Is there Greatness Within You?

Found this the other day while I was coming out of a coffee shop with a friend. What amazes me is that this sign has ALWAYS been here and I never noticed it until NOW! I guess we bring things to our awareness when we are finally ready to receive.

I had to stop and take a picture because I felt this message was calling out to me. This journey really has its ups and downs and sometimes you just feel like giving up and settling for something with less work or something else you fantasize that will be much easier….But really, who am I kidding! I have to remind myself every now and then that I am different. Different in many beautiful aspects of life because really there is only ONE of me! So when I stop to think about my life and purpose, I get a feeling of tremendous amount of support and love all around me. The force within me and around me tells me to KEEP ON GOING! Its in the moments when the universe surprises me with signs to tell me to hang on, not give up and that I am guided.

Here are a few steps that have helped me to pursue greatness in myself and in my life:

1 – Believe in Yourself 

If you don’t believe in yourself then who will? Your belief in yourself is the most important thing to have as it sets the foundation to everything! “If you think you can or can’t then you are right” – Henry Ford

2 –  NEVER give up!!

Would you ever tell a toddler who is learning how to walk to just give up after a few steps of trying because it will never learn how to walk again??? I am pretty sure you would say NO! Of course not!

It’s in our DNA to consistently try until we master it. With the help of encouraging loved ones and true friends, they show us what we can’t see in ourselves and prove to us that the impossible in POSSIBLE!

Great things take time to develop! If its a big goal it will take time, commitment, dedication, faith and persistence to make it happen. Success never comes when you want it to, it comes when it is the right time!

3 – Take small steps forward

“You don’t have to see the whole stair case, just take the first step” – Martin Luther King

Hey, Rome was not built in a day! it started as a vision and then the magic was made.

Set a vision/goal for yourself. Once you have that then set a deadline as to when you would like for it to be achieved. After, your job is to constant feed your vision/goal with nurturing thoughts and love and have a mental visualization of the end result. Work hard towards your dreams by performing the tasks at hand and watch your vision/dream/goals come ALIVE! Keep adding momentum by celebrating the small things/steps :)

4 – Just DO IT!!

There is no “trying”. Trying doesn’t get you anywhere but stuck in spinning cycle getting you the same results that leads to no where. Only headaches and frustrations. Just Do it! Get up and do the work! No one will do it better then you. If you don’t know how, then find people who are knowledgeable to help you. REMEMBER there is a solution to every problem. NOW the real question is “HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT”!

5 – Think UP-lifting positive thoughts!

Could you ever be angry and happy at the same time? hmmmm, NO! Would you rather feel heavy, depressed and look drained from your emotions and thoughts OR would you rather feel happy, content with life and look positivity radiating? hmmmm, is that a trick question??

When it comes to your greatness, you are POWERFUL! You are SMART! You are BEAUTIFUL! Feed your mind, body and soul with positive thoughts, feelings and emotions and you will light up the world around you. Try it and then tell me how you feel afterwards.

So this is it!!! One of my goals for 2016 is Stepping on National Stage on August 13, 2016 in New Westminster, BC. This has been a goal that I have been working since 2012. The struggle is definitely real. This journey has literally made me the person I am today! I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I honestly cannot wait to see what the next 32 weeks will be. I would be lying if this goal doesn’t scare me but like the quote says “If the dream is not big enough then they’re not big enough”! So with that said, I have my coach by my side, I have my Complete Active Living​ girls around me, I have my mom and my sister, I have ALL of YOU who are following my journey, I have my mind, body and soul in it and most importantly I have the Man upstairs holding me strong! How to avoid Holiday weight gain!

Dollarphotoclub_74428990Christmas is just around the corner! Are you feeling the christmas spirit yet? I am. The christmas movies on TV, Christmas songs on the radio, Santa in the malls, festive lights everywhere, people shopping, company parties, etc. It truly is a wonderful time of the year to be able to feel the joy in people’s heart.

We have all the good emotions but what about the gringing feeling of christmas parties and dinners. Lots of chocolates, alcohol, food, food and more food. Did I mention FOOD! I thought by mentioning FOOD it would bring awareness that the next few weeks leading to christmas is a time where people pack on the pounds FAST. It literally creeps up on you and before you know it your gut is hanging over your pants and your clothes are snugger….BUT it doesn’t have to be this way. THERE IS A WAY! I have the perfect solution for you!

Keep reading. I promise this is GOOD! It will save you the devastation of extra unwanted weight!

1. NEVER ARRIVE HUNGRY!!!

Try to have a nutritious snack beforehand. If you do arrive hungry, drink some water to fill up before filling your plate.

2. Distract yourself!

There’s more to a holiday party than food. Don’t look at the party as just a food event. Enjoy your friends company or dancing. Focus on something other than food. Focus on a good conversations or play with the children.

3. Be mindful when you eat!
Chew more slowly and stay in the present. If you find this is difficult put your fork down between every bite. Before you know it, you would have eaten a lot less and stayed full longer.

4. Keep your portions small

Use the smallest plate available and don’t stack your food.  Fill your plate with as much greens as you can with some meat for protein and pick fresh fruits and vegetables. Watch out for sauces and dips.

5. Limit Alcohol
Avoid drinking too much alcohol at holiday parties. It’s not just about calories but about control. If you drink a lot you, won’t have as much control over what you eat.

6. Be selective with your Sweets
Limit your indulgences to small portions and only what looks appealing to you. You’re better off taking a small portion of a single dessert than piling your plate with several treats you plan to try.

7. Bring Your Own Treats
Whether you’re going to a friend’s party or an office potluck, consider bringing a low-calorie treat that you know you’ll enjoy. Bringing your own dessert will make the more fattening alternatives less tempting.

8. Walk It Off or Zumba it off!
Make a new holiday tradition: the family walk or the family Zumba dance!! Besides burning some extra calories, this will get everyone away from the food for awhile and enjoy each others company and SUPER FUN!!!

Believe You Can!

Why is it that people never follow through with their goals? They muster up all this energy at the beginning, feeling hyped, excited and motivated and then in a short while there back into their old ways.

I wondered about this because this was me awhile back. I couldn’t quite understand it. I know I wanted change but everything I did wasn’t good enough or never led me in the direction to achieving what I wanted.

Then something happened one day. After a traumatic event in my life and at my deepest and most difficult time in my life where I thought nothing was possible, I felt a burning emotion rupturing inside me. I felt within me this desirable need for change in me and it never left me. I felt this was the foundation (a burning desire) to transform my life. It was this feeling that pushed me everyday. Gave me purpose everyday. Gave me hope everyday. Gave me belief everyday but most importantly this feeling gave me a dream!

I knew this feeling wanted more for me then I could imagine for myself and therefore I let it lead me (I had nothing to lose as I thought I had lost everything already) BUT in order to connect with it fully I needed to change my mindset. I had to change my beliefs, find my values and make a plan.

Now as I fast forward my life, my conclusion is this. Belief is the foundation to making change in your life. Without it is like suffocating your body of oxygen. You pretty much will be running in circles expecting results.

Let me explain what I mean:

For example: If I set a goal to lose 10 pounds in 3 months. I focus on my goal, I take the necessary steps to change my lifestyle and all is good, right?! All is good so far but yet on an unconscious level I have a deep rooted belief that people around me (especially close friends and family) have tried to lose weight and never succeeded. What will that do for me? With this disconnection, my belief will override my goal to lose 10 pounds in 3 months.  My belief will lead me to run a pattern that says its meant to be really hard or even impossible to lose weight. This is what I call a limiting belief and no matter how hard I work to lose weight, if I don’t change my beliefs of being fit then it will only be short lived and back to square 1.

This is why its vital on your journey to focus on what you want in your life, to understand your own belief system and the impact this has on your goals. You will need to change your beliefs so that your goals and beliefs are totally aligned….BUT  beliefs are held on an unconscious level so how can you figure out what your beliefs are? Here is another example to help you understand:

EXAMPLE 1: Believe I can’t get fit

The Cycle:

I don’t want to be fat. I prepare my exercise schedule. I join the gym and start exercise regularly. After a couple of weeks I begin to make excuses to myself to avoid exercising. I begin to exercise less often. I get demotivated when I don’t see any improvement in my fitness. I get increasingly fed up with myself. When I’m fed up I eat more. I even begin to put on weight and I’m less fit than when I started. I drove my belief to myself.

EXAMPLE 2: Believe I can get fit easily

The Cycle:

I have a vision of how great I will look and feel when I’m fit. I prepare my exercise schedule. I join the gym and start exercise regularly. I feel excited and motivated as I notice my body shape changing. I notice my weight starting to reduce. I feel good about myself and look forward to showing off the new me. I buy myself some new clothes to reward myself. I continue to get fitter. I reach my target fitness and weight.  I prove my belief to myself.

Because beliefs are unconscious one way to know about your beliefs is to reflect on your parents attitude to relationships, money, career, etc or your attachments to significant people in your lives. You may be unconsciously be modelling them.

There is a quote ‘ Whether you think you can’t or you think you can you are right’. Your beliefs shape your reality.

Now with this new found information will you spend your time focused on your empowering or limiting beliefs about yourself?

How to be more Confident

Confidence has many different meaning for people but I find that the common thread is standing in your own power. Standing in your own body and being comfortable with yourself to stand strong in the face of struggles, hardships, cruelty of harsh comments from others and of course confidence in your own skin.

We were all created differently and meant to shine our unique talents and gifts to the world. Does that make people better then others? No, i just believe its the hard work, commitment and focus one does to get where they are in the world. Its simple, if you don’t honour who you are and don’t put in the work, then you will only get half way and stop or just live the rest of your life being in between mediocrity and success.

I developed 10 short tips to help increase your confidence!

1. Stop comparing yourself to people, stay focused on you!

2. Relax! Go with the flow and don’t stress over the little things

3. Love yourself! You are a gift! This world would not be the same if you didn’t exist.

4. Be positive and look for the good in every situation

5. Do what you love and love what you do! There is nothing more beautiful in this world then to share your talents and gifts with others to help UPlift them to a better place. 9. Develop a positive mental Attitude. If you are constantly bashing yourself and saying you’re not good enough, aren’t attractive enough, aren’t smart enough or athletic enough, and on and on, you are setting yourself up for failure. 10. Be happy! Appreciate all the small and big stuff in your life. Life wouldn’t be the same without you so rejoice on your existence and what you mean to people. YOU can and will make a difference in yourself and your world!

YOU are made for GREATNESS!

I love to reflect a lot on my growth from where it all began for me (winter of 2012, me, myself, and I with my thoughts and a heart beat telling myself “is this what becomes of me?”) and not knowing almost 3 years later that I would be the person I am today. Who ever knew this journey would lead me in the direction of who I am today.

michelle_soares_possibleThis journey never came easy and the fact that I literally had to pull myself together and take with me the pieces that I needed to get started was the most difficult thing I had to do for myself. When I was at my darkest point, I couldn’t see light, opportunity, possibility, hope or even think of dreaming. It was nothing but loneliness, heavy sadness, a loss of life, a disconnection between me and the world….. BUT there was something in me that kept drawing my attention inward. It felt like a very low dim light in me (like a candle flame ready to burn out) that kept me with some sort of hope. Hope that I couldn’t grasp but later come to understand that the dim light was my soul NOT ready to give up! My soul (my heart) was what was left of me to carry on through the days. Just knowing that my heart was trying to tell me something was all I needed to give myself a second chance and turn my life around. Once I shifted my energy that is when everything changed…..( and now I will save more for later) ;) BUT

this is my message to YOU:

Have no intention of looking back on your life unless its only to see how far you have come. There is no point to relive your life. You lived it, so move on! Its not worth living out the same fears and regrets and  reliving old patterns of thoughts and habits that were built from the past because they just create a prison within you suffocating your dreams and disconnection who you really are. Its these false beliefs that cause your dreams to die with you and keep you from creating a life you want!

To me life is all about creation. Have you ever given yourself the opportunity to create something beyond yourself? Something of your own making that is pure, beautiful and outstanding.

Its crucial that you believe in yourself and all that you are because even if you help 1 person then that already has an impact on yourself and the world. Just imagine with your own uniqueness the difference you can make around you. Thank goodness we were all created differently. If we were all alike then this world would be the same…BORING!! This is why you follow your heart and not of others.

It doesn’t matter how big or small it is, all that matters is you’re doing something authentic, and unique that helps people. You cannot allow yourself to be intimidated by others. Just be inspired by your own creation and let the work speak for itself. Whether your work affects 7 people or 7 billion, Earth will be a better place and in the end that’s all that matters.  What matters is YOU!

Toronto Championship 2015

Countdown Begins!! 1 week out!

This is it!! 4 months of creation to get on stage and show what my hard work, dedication, commitment, sacrifice and drive has brought me. I started December 1, 2014 and will showcase my figure on March 21, 2015 at the Toronto Championship show!

I wish I can tell you it was easy but it sure wasn’t. Having to go through Christmas and New Years staying on track with my meal plans/workout plans while everyone got to indulge in the festivities with gourmet food, alcohol and sweets left me out of ordinary! Do I regret it? NOT ONE BIT!! I am a girl who is determined to reach past the stars. Everyday is an opportunity to be my best and see how far I can go. I am in competition with no one but only the person that I see in the mirror. Everyday I amaze myself. I tell myself to just try! To trust in the process! To go with the flow! That I CAN DO THIS! If I thought it wasn’t impossible to just PROVE MYSELF WRONG!

If I can see it in my mind then I can definitely have it in my life. I just find the inner strength, faith and belief in myself that I can succeed. I love this sport. It is a bitter sweet relationship but it has made me grow stronger and healthier and has gotten be very far in my own life and career. I followed my heart and found my passion and I am truly BLESSED because I get to SHARE IT WITH YOU!!

I BRING you GOOD NEWS!!

I am HAPPY to share with you that I had my OPA Figure Competition this Saturday that just past and I want to officially announce that I am officially now your 2015 Ms. Figure Toronto! I not only came in FIRST in my category but OVERALL in my division!

HARD WORK pays off and NEVER GIVING UP is just as important!! When I started this journey I didn’t even imagine this for me. All I wanted was to be better myself as a person and try my hardest to make a difference in people’s lives.

I am truly honoured and blessed to share this journey with you. I hope to one day INSPIRE, MOTIVATE and EMPOWER you along your journey so you too can ACHIEVE your GOALS and DREAMS!
